List Of Top Bengali Actors And Actresses 2020

Tollywood is an indispensable part of Bengalis. Here is a list of Bengali actors and actresses who received both name and fame in 2019. Famous Bangla Actors Dev, Jeet, Prosenjit, and Abir ruled the Tollywood Box Office. Mimi and Nusrat forayed into politics and have become hugely popular across India. Movies that did wonders for these stars are also mentioned. It would be interesting to see if they can maintain their position in 2020.

Mimi is here to break all the rules. This Jalpaiguri girl has come a long way from her struggling days. She forayed into politics and contested from Jadavpur, one of the most prestigious Constituency in West Bengal as a TMC candidate. Mimi registered a landslide victory. She visits her constituency regularly and taking good care of the public.

She also started her youtube channel named Mimi Chakraborty Creations, where she showcases her singing talent. With 2 million followers on Instagram, the highest among the Bengali actors, Mimi has become the superstar of Tollywood. She bags the highest endorsements deal in Bengal. Mimi this year appeared in a single movie, Mon Janne Na, sharing space with Yash Dasgupta. 

Nusrat Jahan

Nusrat is one of the most well-spoken actresses of Tollywood. She entered into politics and contested from Basirhat in the 2019 election as a TMC candidate. She registered a landslide victory with a margin of 3.5 lakh votes. Nusrat is taking her job seriously and regularly seen asking questions in Parliament. She is very vocal about local issues.

She also exchanged vows with Nikhil Jain, a Kolkata based businessman. Her destination wedding in Turkey was the talk of the town on social media. Her upcoming release is Asur with Jeet and Abir.


Dev, the highest-paid Bengali actor, did manage to hold his constituency Ghatal this election. His continuous effort to bring change to the Bengali cinema is quite commendable. He is using new-age techniques in all his movies. 

Password his only release this year did well at the box office and was hailed by audiences for his performance.


Jeet finds himself lucky that he is still untouched by politics. With full time dedicated to cinema, Jeet gave back to back release this year. Starting with Bachha Sosur, followed by blockbusters Panther and Shesh Theke Suru. Jeet has worked for nearly two decades in the Bengali cinema. He still rules the Box Office.

Abir Chatterjee

His movie Durgeshgorer Guptodhon was a blockbuster. The audience loved this movie. His acting skills are impeccable. 

Bijoya also tasted success at BO. It's a sequel to his National Award-winning 2017 film Bishorjan. His other releases were Shah Jahan Regency, Tritiya Adhyaya, and Bornoporichhoy.

Ritwick Chakraborty

He has a busy year. Bengali Cinema's brightest star worked on several movies like Vinci Da, Tarikh, Jyesthoputro, Shantilal O Projapoti Rohoshyo, Parineeta, and Buro Sadhu. It's a long list. 

Koel Mullick 

Koel hits back with her blockbuster release Mitin Mashi, in which she portrayed the titular character of a fictional detective. Her other release was Shesh Theke Suru, which also did well at the BO. She will enthrall the audience with Sagardwipey Jawker Dhan this December.

Jisshu Sengupta

He is one of the most versatile actors of Tollywood. Jisshu shared the screen space with Kangana Ranaut in the Bollywood movie Manikarnika, where he played the part of Gangadhar Rao, the protagonist's husband. The actor received a lot of appreciation for his role.
In the Bengali movie, Mahalaya, he acted the role of Bengali icon, Late Uttam Kumar.

Subhashree Ganguly

Parineeta was Subhashree's comeback film post marriage. She floored everyone with her schoolgirl look in Parineeta.  

The movie received appreciation from critics as well as the masses & positive to mixed reviews. 

Prosenjit Chatterjee 

Prosenjit, Jyesthoputro of Tollywood, completed 35 illustrious years in the industry. Be it Indrajit of Jyesthoputro or Gumnami baba of Gumnami, Prosenjeet aced both the characters. Gumnaami was based on the death mystery of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose and got released in Hindi too. Both the movies did well at the box-office.
